Prospective Graduate Students

Student Reporting In SnowWelcome to Montana Journalism’s graduate program in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Journalism. Ours is a hands-on, skills based program that puts journalism students in the field reporting on issues affecting the natural world. Our masters’ candidates produce work for the print media, radio, television and online sites. The faculty here have decades of experience and will help guide you along your way.

Montana’s program is unique in that students are paired with scientists in the Story Lab course. The goal is for journalism students to learn how to better communicate science news; scientists also learn how to interact with the media to better tell their stories. Much of the scientific work takes place right here in the Rocky Mountain west. We like to call our backyard the greatest outdoor laboratory on the planet.

We have scholarships, fellowships, teaching assistantships and a variety of financial aid and work study packages we can put together for you. Take a look at our web site, send us an email, call us if you have any questions. We look forward to receiving your application!
