J-School sophomore attends Clinton Global Initiative Conference
J-School sophomore, Peregrine Frissell, attended the Clinton Global Initiative University Conference at Arizona State University, March 21-23.
President Bill Clinton hosts the conference, bringing together students to discuss solutions to pressing global challenges.
The conference featured speakers including Gabby Giffords, former member of the House of Representatives; Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia; President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Frissell submitted a "commitment to action" as his application, outlining his plans to create a sustainability blog. He plans to use the blog as a journalistic project meant to share sustainable ideas with students and other universities. Frissell is also planning for guest bloggers to contribute, and for the project to last many years.
"Ideally I hope that it's something that will go on. It will live beyond my graduation. I want to get it going and get enough people to carry the torch," he said.
Frissell uses themes from his Climate Change Studies minor to help with blog post ideas. "I think it's definitely key knowing how to put things in context," he added.
Frissell also credits the Global Leadership Initiative at the University of Montana for funding his trip and helping him spread his sustainability ideas.
