Centennial celebration preparations begin
J-School students, faculty, staff and alums are gearing up for the school’s Centennial celebration.
Special events will take place during the 2014-15 academic year, starting with homecoming weekend, September 26-27. The J-School will host an open house on Friday with an all-alumni and friends party at the Adams Center that evening. Saturday, we’ll ride a parade float and gather for a tailgate party at Don Anderson Hall before the football game.
Students are working on special publications and broadcasts to commemorate the centennial. Seniors in the Radio-Television Department are creating radio and television public service announcements and celebration videos to be played on-air and during events. The Montana Broadcasters Association is sponsoring the video pieces as a way to showcase the impact the school has had on Montana.
Students in the magazine course are creating a publication called “Covering a Century” featuring the school’s history, notable alumni and former deans. The magazine will be sent to the school’s alums this summer. The Kaimin will produce a special centennial edition with the fascinating history of the student newspaper and the J-School. That publication will be released campus-wide in the fall and be available at the Homecoming Weekend Centennial Celebration.
