Support Montana Journalism Abroad

Montana to Canada logo, including oil rigs, mountain and pipelineMontana Journalism Abroad students travel across the globe to bring international news, back home to Montana. Our students rely on community support to make these trips possible. Thank you for your continued support of the international reporting division of the University of Montana School of Journalism.

This year's international reporting trip will travel to Western Canada to report on the region's resource-based culture and economy. They will stop in Calgary and Edmonton, the economic and political capitals of Alberta, to interview politicians and industry leaders, and then venture north to Fort McMurray, the proud home and heart of the Alberta oil sands. From there, they will follow the route of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project to the West Coast, where oil companies hope to load Alberta oil on tankers in southwest B.C. and northwest Washington state.
